Callington Retain Jimmy Hopper Shield

In front of a large crowd of supporters who had travelled down to Liskeard from Callington, our B team successfully defended their title with a 14 shot win over Saltash B. Our heartiest congratulations to all the players for their performance over the season.

Callington Bowls Club recently hosted the first ever Active Cornwall Secondary School Games, involving 24 students in Years 7,8,9 from Callington Community College and Wadebridge Secondary School. Organised by Beth Bosley of Active Cornwall and assisted by our own Edna Southey, Graham Body, and Glyn Coggon the four teams played against each other over 8 ends. Callington 'A' being the eventual winners. Pictured below are the students who took part, and the Callington winners.

Primary School Games

Once again, Callington were proud to host the annual  Primary School Games Bowls competition, and what a morning this turned out to be.

48 schoolchildren taking part in the East Cornwall Primary Schools Bowls Tournament. Winners were St Breock B team over St. Breock C team with South Petherwin B team finishing 3rd. Eight teams took part.

My thanks to Mandy Jones, Tony Parker, Mick Gorman, John Kerr, Cynthia Briggs, and Beth Bosley for marking and helping in this heat. The children's enthusiasm was only matched by their politeness and gratitude.
